Tubal Reversal Follow Up Care
Once your tubal
ligation reversal is complete, we will keep you in our surgical center
recovery area until you feel ready to go. It usually takes about and hour
for patients to fully wake up from a tubal reversal. If you are coming from
out of town we recommend that you stay
in the local hotel that we provide near our office for the first night.
Although complications from tubal ligation reversal are very rare, patients
occasionally think something is wrong when everything is actually just fine.
When this happens, it is usually in the first 24 hours and it's nice if
we are close by and able to check you and reassure you.
The day after your tubal ligation reversal we will examine you in the morning
and make sure you are okay. Most couples have some questions and there is
plenty of time for that. Of course, you
can always email us or call the office (1-877-588-5594) to contact Dr.
Greene. There is a recording after hours to give further contact instructions.
In the weeks and months after your tubal ligation reversal we will be calling
you from time to time to check on your status. Of course you can always
call us, and we encourage you to do that. It is very important that you
let us know as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test. We will help
you get testing to make sure your pregnancy is developing properly. When
you have tubal ligation reversal you have an increased risk of a tubular
pregnancy. Although this is a rare condition, it is much easier to treat
if detected early.
We recommend that as soon as you have tubal ligation reversal you start
taking a multivitamin with folic acid or folate to help the baby develop
normally.
Once you have had your tubal reversal there are some very simple things
that you can do to increase your chances of getting pregnant. We will review
these steps with you before you go home.
